Nautical Terms Forecastle-> is the foreward part of a ship, usually in the bow. Seaworthy-> describes a vessel that can meet the usual conditions found at sea. Abeam-> the position of an object seen on either side of the ship near an imaginary line drawn across its middle. Stem-> is the extreme forward end of the bow.
